|DR. LINDA DAVIS JOINS AUCC

Dr. Linda Davis, Head of Research, Graduate Programmes & International Relations of the College of Bahamas is on a one year sabbatical at AUCC.

Dr. Linda Davis, a New Providence Islander and citizen of The Bahamas received her BA and Teacher Certification in English with a minor concentration in Political Science from the College of Saint Benedict, St. Joseph, Minnesota in 1977, her MEd in Psychopedagogy from the University of Ottawa, Canada in 1981 and her PhD in Social and Educational Studies from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 1993. She began her professional career as a high school teacher before joining The College of The Bahamas faculty in 1987. In 1993 she was named Assistant Chair of the Teacher Education Division before being appointed Dean of Professional Studies in 1996. While on leave from The College, from 1999-2001, she was a Consultant to the Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Ministry of Education before returning in August 2001 as Vice President of Academic Affairs. In 2006 she took charge of new portfolio--Research, Graduate Programmes & International Relations.

Dr. Davis’ research interests have focused on the broad field of curriculum studies. Her initial doctoral work explored the notion of the indigenous curriculum and the production of indigenous materials from the perspective of a developing country, while later studies have investigated the complexities and challenges of curriculum reform and the changing roles of educators in this regard within academic contexts within their own traditions.”

She looks forward to her time in Ghana as she seeks to operationalise the agreement signed between The College of The Bahamas and the African University College of Communications, focusing on faculty and student exchanges and other academic ventures.
