ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS Eligibility
for admission to the Diploma in Communication Studies programme is as
follows:
SSSCE
HOLDERS
Senior Secondary School (SSS) Certificate holders are required to satisfy
the following basic requirements:
Core Subjects:
- Passes in three subjects, namely
English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science (for Science
candidates) OR English, Mathematics and Social Studies (for non-science
candidates).
- Additionally, Science candidates
should have, at least, a Grade E pass in Core Social Studies, while
non-Science candidates should have, at least, a Grade E pass in Integrated
Science.
Elective Subjects:
Passes in three (3) elective subjects are also required;
Minimum Aggregate:
In determining eligibility for admission, a candidate’s score
in the three (3) core and three (3) elective subjects should not exceed
aggregate 24.
GCE
HOLDERS
Candidates must possess GCE ‘O’ Level with credits in five
(5) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject,
plus three (3) GCE ‘A’ level passes and a pass in General
Paper.
MATURED
CANDIDATES
Candidates must be at least 30 years old and must possess the GCE ‘O’
Level with credits in five (5) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics
and a Science subject. They must also have had a minimum of five (5) years
professional working experience in a relevant communication-related field
such as Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising or Marketing. Serving
employees are also required to show evidence of study-leave and sponsorship.
AFRICAN
AND FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students who hold qualifications equivalent to those previously
listed are eligible for admission. Evidence of command of English Language
at the GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent is required.
MODE
OF APPLICATION
Applicants are required to complete and submit application forms obtainable
at the Institute at a fee and returned to the Registrar at a designated
time.
