| Prof. Mutere was educated in the UK, Uganda, Kenya and the USA. He holds a BA in Political Science, MA in Journalism (Kent State University, USA), and his PhD work is with the University of Amsterdam. The title of his thesis: “COMMUNICATION POLICY MAKING IN AFRICA: STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES AND THE WAY FORWARD – THE CASE OF KENYA”. Prof. MUTERE is the new Ag. Dean of Journalism & Communications. (He takes over from Prof. Linus Abraham whose one year contract has expired.) |

Mr.
Mutere has taught university level journalism and communication courses
for 26 years in Kenya, USA, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. During that
time he developed MA and BA degree courses for all the institutions he
worked with. In the media industry he:
In the public relations industry, he has consulted for numerous local and international companies from his base in Nairobi. Between 2004 -2007 – Absalom Mutere was chairman/member of the Media Council of Kenya. Former Captain of Kenya National Rugby Football Team – 1985, Coach of the Team (1990-1992) and Chairman of Selectors, the Kenya National Rugby Football Team - 1998 – 2000, Absalom joins AUCC with a great deal of academic and professional experience. |
